Bay Chamber Concerts is thrilled to bring back the Yamato Taiko Drummers. The last appearance of this dymanic and spectacular concert was presented in 2007 to a standing room only audience. The show will engage audience members of all ages as the performance is as much dance as it is music and percussion. Yamato Taiko Drummers are from the Nara Prefecture in Japan. Yamato, comprised of 20 members, exhibits great originality and innovation through the traditional Japanese musical instrument, the Wadaiko (Japanese drum). The group formed in 1993 and has played more than 3,000 performances in 53 countries to over 6 million viewers. The British media calls their sound, “The music of the body.”
